Yoga Nidra
Yoga nidra, also known as "yogic sleep," is a form of meditation that promotes deep relaxation and stress relief. Unlike traditional meditation, which involves sitting in a seated position, yoga nidra is practiced while lying down in a comfortable position. During a yoga nidra session, a trained practitioner guides the participant through a series of relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, visualization, and body awareness. The goal is to enter a state of deep relaxation while remaining conscious and aware. This can be an incredibly rejuvenating and healing experience, as it allows the body and mind to fully relax and release tension. Research has shown that regular practice of yoga nidra can improve sleep, reduce anxiety and depression, and promote overall well-being. Traditional Yoga
Traditional yoga sessions include chanting, shat kriya, pranayama, asanas, relaxation, and meditation. The practices involve coordinated breathing, and deliberate movements that take the practitioner from the starting state into the asana, and back to the starting state.
Regular practice makes the practitioner proficient in the physical movements, after which the attention gets drawn inwards towards self-experience. The class will progressively increase in difficulty, as the students become more aware of body and breath.
Traditional yoga emphasizes postures and breath because most postures have been created by yogis - perfected beings. Following the traditional format helps us to reach inwards into the truth within us, and to be comfortable and relaxed in our true nature.
